- Born in GuangZhou, China, Simon Lok started his early art education from tutorial study when he was 20.He immigrated into U.S. in 1983.He studied illustration in Art Center, Cal State Long Beach and California Art Institute . He've been working for Walt Disney feature Animation studio as a designer since 1993. He has worked on movies like the Princes and the Frog,Bolt,and Brother Bear,as well as Mulan.He has 7 movie credits. In such a friendly yet competitive environment, He's often involved in the process of designing background style,color development;therefore,his understanding of good art works elevate to another level. His growth in animation and oil painting comes hand in hand. He applies graphic design principle to his oil painting while his impressionistic out door approach help him depict seasonal changing and the time of a day accurately on his color keys. He combines theatrical experiences and plein-air skill to capture the beauty of California landscape. Awards including: 1st place Plein-Air Competition of Bowers Museum 2004. Exellence award of OPA Western Region show 2005.
